Punjab RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja passes away after 47 days of injury

Brigadier (retd) JAGDISH Gagneja, Vice-President of RSS Punjab unit, died on Thursday morning at Hero Heart Institute of Ludhiana. He was admitted in Hero DMC institute since August 7 after being shot at by unidentified motor cycle born miscreants on August 6 in Jalandhar’s market. The 70-year-old leader’s cremation is scheduled take place at Ram Bagh, Jalandhar at 4 pm on Thursday.
Confirming his death, Dr GS Wander, Director of Hero Heart Institute said,” his health was deteriorating for the past one week and today early morning his BP fell. He was declared dead at about 9.16 am He had multiple organ failure.” Gagneja had sustained three bullet injuries in his abdominal area along with a head injury as he had fallen on road after being hit. The veteran RSS leader had been put on a ventilator ever since he was admitted to the hospital.
While he was put off the ventilator for a few hours every day, Dr. Wander said infections in multiple organs had increased in the past one week. His family including his son Colonel Rahul Gagneja, his two daughters and wife had been staying in a private room of Heart institute to take care of him
His post mortem will be conducted at DMCH instead of civil hospital, due to security reasons, revealed BJP Punjab’s vice president Anil Sareen. The BJP unit has cancelled all their programmes of the day including a press conference by Shwait Malik. Sareen who was in the hospital expressed deep shock over this news along with Phool Chand Jain who is the co-ordinator of RSS Ludhiana wing.
Phool Chand told that the RSS volunteers had been praying for him since the day of incident. The attackers are yet to be traced. The case had also been shifted to CBI in the last week of August. Sareen said,”We need to give time to CBI to probe in the matter. “
