Siddarth Vishwakarma of Delhi today won his first career men's singles title by stopping veteran Pune player Nitten Kirrtane 6-1 7-6(2) in the MSLTA-ATT Tennis Tournament (M3) organised by Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association at their courts here. Vishwakarma employed his variety of play and better ground-strokes to dominate the first set comfortably before his 42-year-old rival
started his fight-back in the second set. Left-hander Kirrtane intensified his attack to put his Delhi rival to the test and fought back from a break down to force the tie-break.
In the tie break, Vishakarma played strongly to win it 7-2 and wrap up the match in just over an hour and half.
"This is my first Asian title. I like the tournament and the way it was organised by MSLTA. It was a good opportunity for me to get international exposure. It feels so good to have the trophy in my hands," said the title winner.
Vishwakarma got a trophy and Rs 59,958, while runner-up Kirrtane got trophy and Rs 39,972.
