Cauvery row: SC comes down heavily on Karnataka

Supreme Court comes down heavily on Karnataka Government for flouting directions on release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu; says Karnataka bound to comply despite passing resolution in the assembly; SC again orders release of 6000 cusecs water per day from October 1st to 6th to Tamil Nadu. Supreme Court on Friday pulled up Karnataka for its defiant stand in the Cauvery water
release case. The apex court has directed Karnataka to release 6000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu between the 1st of October and 6th of October. The court said Karnataka is flouting its order and creating a situation in which majesty of law is dented, and warned the state, saying that the Wrath of law will fall upon the state, in case of any defiance of Cauvery order.

The Supreme Court also asked the Centre to set up Cauvery Water Management Board by 4th of next month. The court directs Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry to give names of members for Cauvery Water Management Board by tomorrow.
