Sanjeev Sanyal Appointed Principal Economic Adviser

Sanjeev Sanyal Appointed Principal(प्रमुख) Economic Adviser New Delhi: Sanjeev Sanyal, former global strategist(रणनीतिज्ञ) and Managing Director of Deutshe Bank, was on Friday appointed as Principal Economic Adviser. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved Sanyal's appointment for three years on contract basis, an order issued by Personnel Minister said.

Sanyal will work under the Department of Economic Affairs. He will serve as the second in command to chief economic adviser (सलाहकार) Arvind Subramanian in the economic division of the finance ministry. Subramanian’s term is set to expire(समय सीमा समाप्त)in October this year. 
Sanyal attended Sri Ram College of Commerce(व्यापार)  in New Delhi and St. John’s College, Oxford where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
Sanyal was also named "Young Global Leader 2010" by the World Economic Forum at Davos. He is considered one of the world's leading financial sector economists.
He has authored books like Land of the Seven Rivers: A Brief History of India’s Geography, The Indian Renaissance(पुनर्जागरण काल) : India’s Rise After a Thousand Years of Decline, The Incredible History of India’s Geography and The Ocean of Churn.
