State Cabinet of Madhya Pradesh on 5 July 2016 gave its nod to Madhya Pradesh Tax on Entry of Goods in Local Areas Amendment Bill, 2016. The Bill seeks to levy 6 percent entry tax on goods brought to local areas for consumption after purchase under e-commerce. The step has taken in the wake of losses to the state exchequer due to the online shopping. It made toilet in home mandatory for
contesting the panchayat elections. Now those not having toilets in their house cannot contest panchayat elections. There are four lakh panch-sarpanchs in the state.
• It extended special recruitment drive being conducted for filling backlog/carry forward vacancies of SCs, STs, OBCs and disabled persons. Its deadline has been extended for one year from 30 June 2016.
• It authorized Finance Minister to hear problems of daily wagers and work charged employees in the state. After getting apprised of their problems, the Finance Minister would inform the Chief Minister.
• The cabinet sanctioned amended self-finance pension scheme sixth pay scale in accordance with terms and conditions of 1 April 2014 in Rajmata Scindia Agriculture University, Gwalior.
