BWF rankings: Saina up at 5th; Jwala, Ashwini slip to 20th


: Indian ace shuttler Saina Nehwal climbed to fifth spot, according to the latest rankings released today by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). However, due to lacklustre performance of Jwala and Ashwini cost them their rankings came down four places moving at 20th spot in women’s doubles. Saina, after retaining her second Australian Open title recently thrashed her Chinese player Sun Yu,
moved one place above Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara, who is at sixth spot.
Meanwhile, Saina’s city-mate PV Sindhu retained her 10th spot in women’s singles.
In men’s singles, Sameer Verma was at 36th while B Sai Praneeth fell four places at 37th in the rankings. In men’s doubles Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy also made a downward movement to fall two places to 23 while young combo of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar moved up one spot to 29th.
