Justice Menon sworn in as CJ of Patna HC

Governor of Bihar, Ram Nath Kovind, administered the oath of secrecy(गोपनीयता) and office to the new chief justice of Patna high court, Rajendra Menon, in Patna on Wednesday. Chief minister Nitish Kumar, speaker of the Bihar legislative assembly Vijay Kumar Choudhary, legislative(विधायी) council vice-chairman Md Harun Rashid, deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, leader of opposition in state assembly Prem Kumar, several ministers, MLAs, MLCs, high court judges, advocate general, chairmen, vice chairmen of different state commissions and organisations and other dignitaries(गणमान्य व्यक्तियों) were among those present at the Durbar hall of the Raj Bhawan to witness the oath-taking ceremony(समारोह). 

Prior to this, justice Menon was the acting chief justice of the Madhya Pradesh high court. 

Born on June 7, 1957, justice Menon, after getting his law degree, enrolled as an advocate of the Madhya Pradesh high court on August 21, 1981. 

Before his elevation(ऊंचाई) as a judge, he had practised on civil and constitutional laws in the high court of Madhya Pradesh in Jabalpur. 

He was appointed an additional judge of the Madhya Pradesh high court on April 1, 2002, and then made a permanent judge there on March 21, 2003. He is scheduled to retire on June 7, 2019. 

The acting chief justice of Patna high court Hemant Gupta, who has been appointed as chief justice of Madhya Pradesh high court, is expected to take oath on March 18.
