NITI Aayog to hire six consultants to prepare 15 year vision document

NITI Aayog, government's premier think-tank, plans to engage six consultants to prepare the 15 year vision document as well as strategy and action plan documents for seven year and three year period within the given time frame. The consultants, who would be hired on contract for a period of one year, will get a monthly remuneration of up to Rs 1.75 lakh.  "NITI Aayog is looking to engage the services of six (6)
consultants in NITI Aayog. The responsibilities assigned will include, but not be limited to, carrying out the job of preparing vision document, strategy and action plan," the Aayog said in its advertisement for the posts.

It has been for the first time that the assignment-specific hiring is happening at the Aayog after the two-and-a-half year old institution had cut down its original staff strength by over 50 per cent as the Prime Minister headed institution wanted to be a lean and thin organization.

NITI Aayog, successor of the erstwhile Planning Commission, has been tasked with the role of preparing this national agenda which is expected to go beyond the traditional area of 'Plan' and cover the aspects of internal security and defence.

The more focused 15-year "National Development Agenda" that will include internal security and defence as well, will replace the traditional five year plans of the Planning Commission and would start after the last of the five year plans, the twelfth (2012-17), ends next year.

Within the longer vision, a seven year strategy from 2017-18 may be formulated as part of the "National Development Agenda" to convert the longer vision into implementable policy and action with a mid-term review after three years.

The idea is to align the three year time frame from 2017-18 to 2019-20 to predictability of financial resources during the 14th Finance Commission award period. The BJP-led NDA government has set robust social sector targets for itself, biggest being Swachh Bharat by 2019 and Housing for All by 2022.
