Former Congress minister Sher Singh Gagowal passes away

MANSA: Former Congress minister and three times former MLA Sher Singh Gagowal died on Sunday evening after a brief illness. Gagowal(87) was suffering from Kidney problem and 5 days ago was admitted at Fortis Hospital at Mohali where he breathed his last. His cremation will take place on Monday at Mansa. Gagowal was minister of state for animal husbandry in 1995 in the Rajinder Kaur
Bhattal government. He had won for the first time in 1992 from Mansa assembly constituency. In 1997 he had lost the election. In 2002 when in alliance with CPI, the Congress had left the seat to CPI, Gagowal had contested as independent candidate and had won. In 2007 he repeated his victory on Congress ticket. In 2012 election the congress ticket was allotted to her daughter in law Gurpreet Kaur Gagowal and she had lost to Prem Mittal of SAD by 1300 votes.
Gagowal' daughter in law Gurpreet Kaur said "my father in law breathed his last on Sunday evening after brief illness and the cremation will take place on Monday at Mansa".
