NCP offers to form 3rd front for elections

Panaji: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday said that it is ready to take the lead and form a pre-poll alliance with secular political parties in Goa including the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and the Goa Vikas Party (GVP) for the 2017 state elections. Throwing down an open challenge to the Congress, which has repeatedly brushed aside calls for a pre-poll
alliance, NCP also said that it was ready to contest the polls alone if required.
"If the Congress dreams that it can win alone then it is wrong. The secular vote must not be destroyed and if the third front can come together and win then we will do that. If all parties Goa Forward Party, MGP come together on one platform then it is beneficial," state party president Jose Philip D'Souza told a press conference on Thursday.
