Former BJP MLA from Singrauli Ram Charitra died today at a hospital in Bhopal today due to a prolonged illness. He was 81. Charitra is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters. Considered as the backbone of BJP in the district, Charitra became MLA for the first time in 1977 on Janata Party ticket from Singrauli Assembly seat. He won thrice in 1980, 1985 and 1996. In 2008, he won the Assembly election
from Devsar seat in the district. Last rites will be performed tomorrow at his ancestral Dhonti village.
