Ambedkar Jayanti to be celebrated as Knowledge Day(ज्ञान दिवस) in State

On the eve of the 117th birth anniversary(जयंती) of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the Maharashtra government declared that the day would be celebrated as Knowledge Day. Educational institutes in the State have been asked to organise lectures on subjects studied by Dr. Ambedkar. A Government Resolution issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on Thursday said April 14 will now be celebrated as Knowledge Day in the memory of Dr. Ambedkar.  Social Justice Minister Rajkumar Badole, “He [Dr. Ambedkar] has studied a wide range of subjects in his life ranging from economics, social science, history, anthropology (मनुष्य जाति का विज्ञान) to political science. He has achieved (हासिल) a number of degrees such Ph.D., Barrister at Law, D.Sc (Economics), LLD at Columbia University. The government has approved the demand (मांग)to celebrate the anniversary as Knowledge Day.”
