World Red Cross and Red Crescent(बढ़ने वाला) Day to be celebrated with the theme "Everywhere for Everyone(हर जगह सभी के लिए) "

World Red Cross Day, which is annually celebrated on the 8th of May, is this year going to be commemorating (के उपलक्ष्य) the birth anniversary of the founder of the Red Cross, Jean Henry with the theme "Everywhere for everyone". The Indian Red Cross Society, together with its partners such as the ICRC and the IFRC, decided to organise online activities such as essay, photography and painting competitions(प्रतियोगिताओं) among Junior Red Cross members, Youth Red Cross members and others. Topic for essay was the 'Volunteerism as a force for positive change in human behaviour'; the topic for photography competition was 'Volunteerism(स्वयंसेवा): Everywhere for everyone, and the same was the topic of the painting competition for which entries were solicited by end of April.
World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is an annual celebration of the principles of the movement and also as the anniversary of the birth of Henry Dunant (born: 8 May 1828), the founder of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize.

The first Red Cross Day was celebrated on 8 May in 1948. The official title of the day has changed over time, becoming "World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day" in 1984.
