EX-MINISTER DURGA PATNAIK PASSES AWAY
Senior Congress leader and former Minister Durga Shankar Patnaik passed away early on Sunday morning. He was 78. Patnaik breathed (सांस) his last at around 4.30 am at the Care Hospital here. He is survived(बच जाना) by his wife, two daughters and two sons-in-law, who were present at his deathbed(मृत्युशय्या). A few days ago, he had undergone surgery on his leg. After he developed kidney-related ailments(बीमारियों), he was admitted to the hospital. Born at Patnaikpada in Sambalpur district in 1939, Patnaik was elected to the State Assembly three times from the Sambalpur constituency. He was appointed as the Labour Minister in the then Chief Minister Janaki Ballav Patnaik’s Cabinet. He had also earned acclaim(प्रशंसा) for his work as the general secretary of the Sambalpur Sports Association. Besides, he was president of the Sambalpur University Employees’ Union.
