ANDHRA PRADESH ASSEMBLY AMENDS ACT TO APPOINT PV SINDHU AS GROUP-1 OFFICER
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Legislature on Tuesday passed a Bill to appoint Olympics silver medal winning shuttler PV Sindhu as a Group-1 officer in the government. By amending the Public Services Act Sindhu was given the rank of a deputy collector. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced in the state Assembly on the occasion that his government intended(इरादा) to appoint Sindhu as the state's sports ambassador. With this, Sindhu may get the appointment orders within a couple of weeks, after Governor ESL Narasimhan gives his nod to the amendments.
Introducing the amendments to the Act, Naidu said Sindhu would appointed as sub-collector once the amendments are carried out(किया गया). ON her return with a silver medal from the Rio Olympics, Naidu had felicitated(सम्मानित) and offered her a Group-1 officer's role.
Telangana Chief Minister also gave her a similar offer, but the player chose Andhra's offer. She is currently working with Bharat Petroleum Corporation as deputy manager. AP, Telangana stood facing each other in lieu to honour Sindhu. While AP gave her Rs 3 crore cash reward with a 1000 square yards house site in upcoming capital Amaravati, Telangana government presented her RS 5 crore cash reward and a 1000 square yards residential plot in Hyderabad. Certain provisions in the Andhra Pradesh (Regulation of Appointments to Public Services and Rationalisation of Staff Pattern and Pay Structure) Act, 1994, prevented (रोका) the appointment of the badminton player as any recruitment in public service should only be through the AP Public Service Commission, selection committee or employment exchange.
