Assam Cabinet Declares Sanskrit As Compulsory Subject Upto Class 8

  In a cabinet meeting, the Assam government led by the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal decided(निर्णय लिया) to make Sanskrit a compulsory (अनिवार्य)language for students up to class 8th
in the state.  The decision to make Sanskrit mandatory was highly appreciated(सराहना की) by the Assam Sanskrit Sahitya Sabha and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as it would prevent western impact on state’s culture. Besides, the government decided to promote computer education in the state. The government would appoint teachers for the two subject. The government will also connect each panchayat of the state with Internet facility by the end of 2017-18.
