India and Belgium sign Protocol to amend DTAA

NEW DELHI, MARCH 9:  India and Belgium on Thursday signed a Protocol to amend the existing (मौजूदा) Double Taxation Avoidance (बचाव) Agreement (DTAA) between the two countries. This Protocol was signed by Sushil Chandra, Chairman, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on behalf of India and Jan Luykx, Ambassador of Belgium to India, on behalf of Belgium.

The Protocol seeks to broaden (विस्तृत करें) the scope of the existing framework (रूपरेखा) of exchange of tax related information. This in turn will help curb tax evasion and tax avoidance between the two countries and will also enable mutual assistance in collection of taxes, an official release said.

It may be recalled that the Union Cabinet had in June last year approved the signing of a Protocol to amend the existing DTAA pact with Belgium.
