Airtel announces merger with Axiata in Bangladesh

Airtel announces merger with Axiata in Bangladesh, India based Bharti Airtel Ltd (Airtel) has completed the merger with Bangladesh based Robi Axiata Ltd (Robi Axiata) of Axiata Group Berhad (Axiata).Now it will operate under the Robi Axiata brand in Bangladesh. The proposed merger agreement was signed between Aritel and Robi in January, 2016. Axiata will hold 68.7 per cent stake and Airtel Bangladesh

will hold 25 per cent. The remaining 6.3 per cent stake will be held by NTT DoCoMo, Airtel.

iii. After Merger , it will be the second largest mobile operator in Bangladesh with around 32.2 million customers.
