Faith & hard work: Deepa Malik wins silver at Rio

India's Deepa Malik has created history by becoming the first woman from India to win a medal at the Paralympics as she bagged a silver in the shotput event at Rio De Janeiro. Deepa's best throw of 4.61 metres from her six attempts was enough to clinch the silver medal. India now have secured three medals from the Rio Paralympics. Deepa will receive a cash award of Rs 4 crore under Haryana
Sports Scheme for her feat. Bahrain's Fatema Nedham won the gold medal with a best throw of 4.76 metres, while Dimitra Korokida of Greece bagged the bronze medal with a throw of 4.28 metres.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Deepa Malik on her feat. In a tweet, PM said, "Well done Deepa. Your silver at the Paralympics makes the nation very proud. Congratulations". 

Sports Minister Vijay Goel has congratulated Deepa Malik for scripting history by winning a silver medal in shotput event.
