Women's ODI: India openers Deepti Sharma and Poonam Raut in world-record 320-run partnership
India openers Deepta Sharma and Poonam Raut set a world record in women's ODIs by smashing(मुंहतोड़) 320 for the first wicket during their clash against Ireland at Potchefstroom. Nineteen-year-old Deepti, playing her 19th ODI, flayed(हमलों की निंदा) the Irish attack to amass 188 off 160 balls. The innings was studded with 27 fours and two sixes.
Deepti's 188 is the second highest individual(व्यक्ति) score in women's ODIs, behind Belinda Clarke's unbeaten 229 against Denmark in Mumbai back in 1997. The more experienced Raut, 27, played a stellar supporting role at the other end and hammered 109 off 116 as India finished with a daunting 358/3 in their 50 overs. This has been a good month for Indian women's cricket. Last Tuesday (May 9), Jhulan Goswami became the leading wicket-taker in one-day internationals, drawing (चि त्र का री) high praise from all corners of India's famed(प्रसिद्ध) cricketing fraternity(भ्रातृत्व).
