Gupreet Ghuggi resigns from primary membership of AAP

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Following the appointment of Bhagwant Mann as a new state convener of AAP in Punjab, its former state convener Gurpreet Ghuggi on May 10 resigned from the basic membership of the party. Interacting with media at Chandigarh, he said that he can’t work under a person addicted to alcohol.  Ghuggi stated that Mann has been appointed on the sole condition that he would stop drinking alcohol after becoming the state convener(संयोजक). Irking over (अधिक भड़कना) his termination (समाप्ति) from the post of state convener, Gurpreet Ghuggi said that the sudden decision of party’s core leadership about appointing Mann has proved that it succumbed to pressure by Bhagwant Mann.

Gurpreet Ghggi further said that he gave his best for the victory of AAP in Punjab assembly polls and had arranged meetings of AAP leadership with some renowned(प्रसिद्ध) politicians who are currently enjoying Congress’ rule in Punjab. He alleged that the entrance of these leaders into AAP was blocked by leaders like Bhagwant Mann that ultimately resulted in failure(असफलता) of AAP in Punjab.

Gurpreet Ghuggi further said that the AAP looks to have deviated (भटक) from its principles so he didn’t find it appropriate to be a part of it.  

Meanwhile, the newly appointed AAP’s state convener Bhagwant Mann has expelled Upkar Singh Sandhu from party. Notably, S. Upkar Singh Sandhu had contested by-poll for Amritsar’s parliamentary seat on AAP’s ticket in February-2017.

It worth mentioning here that after the appointment of Bhagwant Mann as a state convener, S. Upkar Singh had posted on his Facebook wall that Bhagwant Mann was addicted of alcohol and he starts drinking from morning. He had suggested AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal to change Aam Admi Party’s name to ‘Peg Pyala Party’.
