Zoom Air set to take off on February 15 NEW DELHI, FEB 12: India’s latest private airline, Zoom Air, will start daily scheduled operations on the Delhi-Kolkata-Durgapur-Delhi sector from February 15. The same will be extended to Amritsar in the afternoon, followed by Delhi-Surat-Bhavnagar-Delhi, an evening service. The airline becomes India’s 10th scheduled carrier for domestic(देशीय)  skies
presently, with others being Air India, Air India Express, Jet Airways, Jetlite, Indigo, Spicejet, GoAir, Vistara and Air Asia India. Koustav M Dhar, CEO and Director of Zoom Air, said: “Zoom Air shall fill the gap of sectors that are less catered to, by other scheduled airlines. We bring a new perspective of flying and are termed a premium commuter airline, with on-board Zoom Eat – a styled snacks and beverages(पेय)  service; professional crew(गण)  – a new initiative to have 1:1 lady pilots on board – operating from Premium T3 in New Delhi and T2 in Mumbai.”

The Airline will, for the first time also connect Durgapur (Kazi Nazrul Islam International Airport) in West Bengal , India’s first private Airport, open for schedule flying built on a JV model with Changi Airport.

Zoom Air, with its remaining aircraft operations, shall connect from Delhi and Kolkata to Tirupati, Vijaywada, Mumbai, Shillong, Aizawl, Pasighat and Zero (in Arunachal Pradesh), Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Indore and Bhopal, at least once daily, in its route planning.

Zoom Air was accorded the Schedule Operating Permit by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)on February 3.

Zoom Air (license under Zexus Air Services) presently has three CRJ-200LR aircraft, under dry lease from CRJ Aircraft Leasing, Dublin, out of which two have been imported.

All Zoom Air aircraft are Bombardier Canadair Regional Jets, of 50 premier seater long-range versions, with quiet cabin and fast cruise technology and fitted with High Performance CF34-3B19 engines by GE Aerospace.

The aircraft produced by Bombardier are versatile (बहुमुखी) for short sectors and aptly suited for Indian Tier-II and Tier-III cities, including a major support to the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s initiative for Regional connectivity Scheme (RCS). Zoom Air becomes the first private airline to support and join the RCS.

“We envisage a 18-20 per cent year-on-year growth, on such underserved and un-served airports, and have seen massive(बड़ा)  air growth in stations like Vijaywada, Tirupati, Ranchi, Chandigarh, etc. Its all about connectivity and Regular reliable services,” further added Dhar.

Koustav M Dhar has been synonymous for the last one-and-half decade with Indian aviation, and has been a pioneer for regional aviation in India. He thanked the entire team of Officials of DGCA, Directorate Air worthiness and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) for relentless support in making Zoom Air a reality.
