Now, ‘Saathiya Kits’, Mobile App To Clear Adolescents(किशोरों)’ Doubts New Delhi: India is home to 253 million adolescents, the largest in the world, as per the government data. During adolescence, the years between 13 and 19, a teenager undergoes physical and psychological development. Keeping this in mind, the government has launched (शुभारंभ) ‘Saathiya Resource Kits’
and Saathiya Salah mobile app on Monday to provide the right information to the adolescents about the transition(संक्रमण) they undergo.
The initiative, which is a part of the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) programme(कार्यक्रम), has 1.6 lakh selected peer educators who will share a wealth of information with the adolescents. They will clear doubts(संदेह) about bodily changes they undergo during puberty – menstruation, breast development in girls and change of weight, voice, facial hair growth and occurrence of wet dreams in boys, among other issues.
At the launch, Health Secretary CK Mishra said that adolescents are an asset to the country and in the future, they will be the biggest dividends to the country’s economy. Hence, their health and well-being is a priority.
He further said that despite the availability of a plethora of information in the media, this kit will work as a handy tool and simplify peer educators’ job of answering adolescents’ queries.
The resource kit comprises of an activity book, Bhranti-Kranti Game, a question-answer book and a peer educator diary.
The mobile app Saathiya Salah, which is available on Google play-store, is a ready guide for the adolescents who shy from discussing health issues with peer educators. The app has been launched in partnership with the Population Foundation of India and UN Populations Funds.
