Ponda: Rajmata Umadevi Soundekar Wadiyar of the erstwhile Soundekar dynasty in Goa passed away on Monday following a brief illness.She was 66 and passed away in a private hospital at Belagavi, Karnataka.She was the wife of the 13 th generation king of Soundekar dynasty, late Sadashiva Basavalinga Soundekar Wadiyar. Prasannakumar in 2009, she was staying at Belagavi with her younger son Madhulinga alias Nageshkumar. After feeling discomfort on June 24, she was admitted to KLES hospital at Belagavi for treatment and she died on Monday while undergoing treatment.
Later, her body was brought to Goa at their palace in Nagueshim, Ponda. The mortal remains was kept for public viewing at Nagesh palace.
PWD minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar alias Sudin, PWD water division executive engineer Dilip Dhavalikar, Bandora panchayat members and others paid their last homage to the departed soul.
The last rites were performed at the royal burial ground at Curti, Ponda, late on Monday.
