International Day of Women and Girls in Science Observed on February 11, 2017

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science was observed(देखे गए)  on February 11, 2017 to recognize the achievements of women in science and inspire and engage(संलग्न)  women and girls in science. The theme of 2017 International Day of Women and Girls in Science is “Gender, Science

and Sustainable Development: The Impact of Media”. The main idea is to stress the role that media plays in empowering (सशक्त बनाने) women and achieving gender equality.International Day of Women and Girls in Science

The observation of the day was felt as women and girls continue to be excluded(अपवर्जित)  from participating fully in science and to achieve the developmental goals set in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development it is must to take necessary steps. Therefore, in 2016 the United Nations General Assembly adopted(गोद लिया)  resolution declaring 11 February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science to achieve full and equal access and participation in science for women and girls to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
