Mehta appointed M’laya security advisor (सुरक्षा सलाहकार)
Rajiv Mehta, the former Meghalaya police chief on Friday has been appointed as state security advisor to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma. Mehta, who was also former Narcotics Control Bureau chief, scripted (लिखित) history becoming the first non-government official in Meghalaya to hold the post of state security advisor. Sangma said the Cabinet has approved Mehta for the post. “The state will be requiring (की आवश्यकता होती है) such persons to give suggestions and recommendations and adopting of strategies while dealing with various matters pertaining (संबंधित) to security of the state as well issues related to sisters’ states in the Northeast and borders with neighbouring countries like Bangladesh and Myanmar, human rights issues, strengthening(को सुदृढ़) of police organisation among others,” Sangma said.
Sangma informed that the appointment of Mehta to the post is for a period of one year.
