National Youth Athletics Meet: Champion Haryana DECCAN CHRONICLE.

National-Youth-Athletics-Meet-Champion-Haryana

Haryana flew(उड़ान भरी) high after defeating Kerala to clinch the team championship at the National Youth Athletics Meet that concluded at G.M.C. Balayogi Stadium in Hyderabad. Haryana emerged(उभरा) champions by picking 166.5 points. Kerala, who stood at the top place in the last five years, could manage only 134.75 points to be content with the runners-up spot. However Kerala retained (बनाए रखा) the team crown for girls (100 points) while Haryana boys topped with 108.5 points at the end of the 3-day meet.

World School Games champion 2016 — Rohit Yadav (Haryana) improved his personal best — javelin throw with an excellent throw of 76.11 metres.

It was also a new meet record. With his performance in this Championship, he is very close to Song Qingshu of China, who won with 76.36m in their youth nationals at Nanchang just four days ago.

An interesting duel for the top spot between the duo will be on cards in the Asian Youth Championships at Bangkok next month.

Both Rohit and his Uttar Pradesh teammate Avinash Yadav, who finished second on Sunday with 71.59m, have attained the world youth qualification(योग्यता)  as well.

Kerala pole vaulter(कूदने वाला(Jumper)) Nivya Antony equalled her national youth record by scaling to 3.32 metres at Hyderabad, a height she first recorded at Coimbatore last November during the junior national championships.
