UPSC IES ESE Prelims Result 2017 Announced; Check The Merit List SC has announced IES ESE prelims 2017 result of the written examination that was held on 8th January, 2017. Over/under 2 lakh candidates had taken the Engineering Services examination and according to the prior details published by UPSC itself,
somewhere in the range of 2640-3080 candidates were to be shortlisted for proceeding to the next phase of this recruitment process.

The roll numbers of selected candidates have been published at the official website (www.upsc.gov.in) with a write-up. Candidates may now check their UPSC IES prelims result 2017/ UPSC ESE pre 2017 results using the links given here in case you can’t find the PDF at the official website.  Results were uploaded at the UPSC website on Thursday evening. On Wednesday, UPSC had announced the results of civil services main exam 2016 and also notified that 2017 civil services exam will be held on 18th June.

Some major changes have been introduced this year for the engineering services exam as compared to the previous years. The recruitment which used to consist of two tier exams, now has 3 tier exams. Firstly, the preliminary examination which is considered as a screening test. The candidates who qualify the ESE prelims are called to appear for the mains exam (tier 2) and then the personality test (tier 3). The prelims exam also witnessed the addition of Engineering Aptitude alongside General Studies in the paper which only had General Ability section before.

The marks distribution in IES/ESE 2017 exam goes as mentioned below:

Stage 1, known as prelims test consisted of objective type papers and carried 500 marks.
Stage 2, known as mains will be of conventional type and will carry 600 marks (2 papers with 300 marks each, and of 3 hours duration).
Stage 3 will be personality test, consisting of 200 marks.
All three stages bring out the total obtainable marks to 1300.
The weightage of conventional papers was increased by 100 marks this year and was reduced by 100 marks in objective papers. The overall weightage was increased by 100 marks from 1200 marks in previous years to 1300 marks this time.

What’s ahead:

The mains exam will be conducted on 14th May, 2017. The candidates shortlisted on the basis of IES/IES prelims result are required to appear for the mains exam. The admit cards to the selected candidates will be issued three weeks prior to the mains exam.

Candidates should note that only e-admit cards would be issued to the candidates for mains exam and admit cards will not be dispatched via courier/post. The admit cards will be uploaded on www.upsc.gov.in. The details of the exam timings and test venue will be mentioned in the admit card.

The cut off marks in UPSC IES ESE 2017 exam will be officially published by the commission after the completion of the recruitment i.e., after the publication of final results. The schedule for verification of certificates and personality test will be notified after the declaration of mains exam results.
