Supreme Court Appoints Vinod Rai as BCCI Committee’s Head
Vinod Rai, the former Comptroller and Auditor General of India (भारत के नियन्त्रक एवं महालेखापरीक्षक) (CAG) was appointed as the head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) administrative committee by the Supreme Court on January 30, 2017. The main aim of the committee would be look
after the day-to-day functioning of the board in addition to the proper implementation of the Lodha committees recommendations for the board. The bench, comprising (शामिल) Justices Dipak Misra, A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud also appointed historian Ramachandra Guha, Vikram Limaye, Managing Director of IDFC and Diana Edulji, former women test cricket captain as the member of the 4-membered committee. Besides, the Apex Court dismissed the request of the government to appoint the secretary of the Sports Ministry as a member of the committee. The court has earlier specified that Ministers and Government servants cannot hold any official post in the cricket board.
