High-Level Consultations on Counter-Terrorism Held Between India & Russia in New Delhi

High-Level Consultations (परामश)  on Counter-Terrorism Held Between India & Russia in New Delhi A high-level consultation was held between India and Russia on January 31, 2017 in New Delhi to share views on threats posed by terrorism. Indian side was led by Preeti Saran, Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs while Russia was led by H.E. Oleg V. Syromolotov, Deputy Foreign
Minister.  Both sides shared views on issues related to terrorism including state-sponsored, cross border terrorism faced by India.” The two sides agreed to comply with the UNSC 1267 Sanctions List processes for blacklisting various terrorists and entities(संस्थाओं).  Besides discussing the threat on the issue, both the nation also shared experiences of successful measures taken to curb(नियंत्रण)  terrorism and countering rationalization(युक्तिकरण) . They shared concerns related to the existence of Af-Pak region as the main centre of terrorism. The two leaders emphasized (पर जोर दिया)  the need to deepen (गहरा हो जाना) the engagement on counter-terrorism under the UN, BRICS and SCO mechanisms
viii. A joint action plan has been agreed upon by the two countries to focus on enhancing capacity building, frequent expert-level meetings, sharing of insights, exchange of best practices in countering rationalization and curbing terrorism.
