It is important to note in the first place that 92 lakh candidates had appeared for RRB NTOC 2016 1st Stage CBT exam.

After RRB NTPC Result 2016 is announced
RRBs will hold a 2nd stage Computer Based Test (CBT) for various NTPC (Graduate) category posts. Candidates equal to 15 times of vacancies shall be called for 2nd stage CBT based on the merit position in the 1st stage CBT.
2nd stage CBT is likely to include questions pertaining to General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and Reasoning. The duration of 2nd stage CBT will be of 90 minutes covering 120 multiple choice objective questions.
All candidates who obtain marks equal to or more than RRB NTPC Cut Off 2016 will be eligible to appear for RRB NTPC 2016 2nd stage CBT. It is important to start preparing for 2nd stage CBT now.
Candidates who are declared as qualified in the result of RRB NTPC 2nd stage computer based test must note the dates for document verification, skill test (if applicable), aptitude test (if applicable). Detailed selection procedure is specified below for each post.

RRB NTPC Admit Card 2016 for 2nd Stage CBT will be made available once result of RRB NTPC 2016 1st Stage CBT is announced.
For the posts of CA, TA, ECRC, Goods Guard:
Merit list is drawn on the basis of marks obtained in the computer based tests only.
For the posts of Sr. Clerk cum typist, JAA, Sr. time keeper:
Based on the result of RRB NTPC 2016 CBTs, candidates are called for Typing test.
Typing skill test is qualifying in nature. In this, candidate has to be able to type at least 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi. The number of candidates called for typing test is eight times the number of vacancies.
Merit list is drawn for candidates who qualify the typing test, and the basis of compilation of merit list is the marks obtained in computer based test only.
For the posts of ASM, Traffic assistant:
Based on the result of RRB NTPC 2016 CBTs, candidates are called for Aptitude test.
Aptitude test details can be found at www.rdso.indianrailways.gov.in → Directorates → Psycho technical directorate → candidates corner. The number of candidates called for aptitude test is eight times the number of vacancies.
Merit list is drawn for candidates who qualify the aptitude test, and the basis of compilation of merit list is by giving 70% weightage to marks obtained in CBT and 30% weightage to marks obtained in aptitude test.
RRB NTPC 2016 Result of 2nd Stage CBT
Approximately 3 lakh candidates will have appeared for second stage computer based test. Result of RRB NTPC 2016 second stage CBT is expected to be published around one month after exam is held by all zones.
Document verification
Goods Guard, CA, TA, ECRC candidates who qualify as per RRB NTPC 2016 Result of second stage CBT will be called for document verification. For others, DV will be done after typing skill test (only for Sr Clerk cum typist, Sr Time Keeper, and JAA), and Aptitude Test (only for ASM, and Traffic Assistant).
In addition, 50% extra candidates are also called as standby. However, they are considered for empanelment only if there is shortfall in empanelment from the main list. During document verification (DV), candidates will have to produce their original certificates.
Typing Skill Test
Sr Clerk Cum Typist, Sr. Time Keeper, JAA candidates who qualify as per RRB Result 2016 of NTPC 2nd CBT will be called for typing skill test. Approximately 20000 candidates will be called for qualifying skill test. Candidates should be able to type 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on personal computer.
Qualified candidates will be called for Document Verification.
Aptitude Test / Psychological Test
ASM, and Traffic Assistant candidates who qualify as per RRB NTPC Result 2016 of 2nd stage CBT will be called for Aptitude Test / Psychological Test.

Selection Process
Selection of candidates for the Non Technical Popular Categories will be based on merit obtained in the common single stage CBT followed by document verification for four categories (Commercial Apprentice, Traffic Apprentice, ECRS, Goods Guard), typing skill test and document verification for three categories (JAA, Sr. Clerk, Sr. Time Keeper), Aptitude test followed by document verification for two categories (ASM, Traffic Assistant).
Calculation of marks for RRB NTPC Result 2016 CEN 03/2015
Online computer based tests containing 100 questions are being held in different shifts on each of the NTPC exam dates.
For each question that the candidate has marked correct answer of, marks are awarded in accordance with the marking scheme.
The exam carries negative marking and hence for every incorrect answer, 1/3rd of the marks assigned to the question is deducted.
Overall performance of candidate is judged by his / her score obtained in the RRB NTPC recruitment exam. If the candidate scores marks more than the cut off for RRB NTPC CEN 03/2015, the candidate is declared as qualified for next stage.

NTPC GR held in March-May 2016 was the largest computer based test in India wherein more than 9200000 candidates appeared. On the other hand, total vacancies in RRB Non Technical Popular Categories is around 18252. Therefore, there are more than 500 candidates competing against single post. In this scenario, cut offs could be high.
However, as Railway Recruitment Board has announced that it will hold 2nd stage CBT, and call 15 times number of candidates as vacancies, therefore accordingly cut offs will now vary appropriately.
