The famous anime along with other cartoons of the 90s will be seen in various merchandise daunting the Tokyo Olympics 2020 logo. Japan’s official Sailor Moon website announced the pretty soldier of love and justice would appear alongside Dragon Ball’s Goku, the titular hero of Naruto, Astro Boy and more on an assortment of merchandise to promote Tokyo’s 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
This comes as a pleasant surprise for many millennials who grew up addicted to these cartoons. However, the merchandise which is available on the Japanese website has left out the legendary Pokemon, Pikachu and the video game character that caused many fights, Super Mario. However, this lineup appears to be aimed at the Japanese shoppers only, and more merchandise with our favourite animes may soon become available.
The Japanese authorities have taken this decision as a way to boost the interest of the younger audiences. The Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe has been trying to give the Olympics a fun element. The Prime Minister came dressed as Super Mario during the Rio Olympics 2016 where he announced the plans for Tokyo Olympics 2020.
