KARNATAKA MINISTER HS MAHADEVA PRASAD PASSES AWAY

KARNATAKA MINISTER HS MAHADEVA PRASAD PASSES AWAY Karnataka's Minister for Co-operation and Sugar, HS Mahadeva Prasad, has passed away. He was 58 years old. Sources said that the minister had passed away in his sleep after a massive cardiac arrest. He was scheduled to attend Silver Jubilee celebration of Cooperation Transport Network (Sahakara Sarige) in Koppa town of
Chikkamagalur. He arrived at around 10:30 pm on Monday at Serai Resorts in Chikkamagalur.  Officials at the chief minister's office told Bangalore Mirror that his body will be taken to Mysuru and then to his Constituency Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar district.

Prasad, a five-time MLA from Gundlupet constituency, was a resident of Mysore. In 2004, the Congress politician was the minister for food and civil supplies, and consumer affairs. He then went on to hold the post of Minister for Kannada and Culture in 2007. In 2010, he was appointed the president of the District Congress Committee Chamarajnagar. 

BJP state president and former Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa condoled Prasad's demise. He tweeted, "Shocked to hear the demise of Cooperation Minister, Govt of Karnataka Sh.H.S.Mahadeva Prasad. Condolences to the family of Sh. Mahadeva Prasad."

The government has declared a public holiday and three days of mourning in the state. 

Prasad is survived by his wife and son.
