Former Tripura BJP president passes away Veteran BJP leader and the party’s former Tripura State president Sudhindra Dasgupta died on Thursday following a heart attack. He was 78. Leaders across political spectrum expressed shock at the passing of Mr. Dasgupta, who was among the leaders behind the BJP’s growth in the State. State president in 2015, visited his residence. Sudhindra Dasgupta leaves behind a son and two daughters. His wife Manjurani Dasgupta and another daughter pre-deceased him.
Cardiac arrest
Family sources said he suffered a massive cardiac arrest in the morning as he was reading newspapers at his residence. He was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
He joined the BJP after retiring from government service as a teacher. He was elected State president of the party in 2011 and continued in that position till 2015.
His last rites were performed at the Battala cremation ground in the afternoon.
