Ex-Rajya Sabha member Hamidali Shamnad passes away Senior Muslim League leader and ex-Rajya Sabha member Hamidali Shamnad passed away in a private hospital due to old age related ailment here last evening. Shamnad (87), admitted to hospital a week ago. He is survived by three daughters. His wife Ummal Halima pre-deceased him two years ago. A member of the Upper House from 1971 to
79, Shamnad also represented Nadapuram in state Assembly defeating top Communist leader C H Kanaran in 1960.
Besides, he held different posts, including Kasargod Municipal Chairman, member of Public Service Commission and as Chairman of Rural Development Board.
