Eminent jurist Weeramantry Passed Away
Justice C. G. Weeramantry, one of the world’s most eminent jurists passed away in Sri Jurist WeeramantryLanka. He was 90. Weeramantry has began his judicial career in the 1950s, served as a senior judge of the Supreme Court from 1965. Later he moved to Australia where he was appointed
as the prestigious Sir Hayden Stark Professor at Law at Monash University. He was the first Sri Lankan to be appointed to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague . He set up the Colombo-based Weeramantry Centre for International Peace .
