Dilip Vengsarkar quits as MCA vice president Mumbai: Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar has submitted his resignation as vice president of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) following the Supreme Court order of January 2. “In view of the Honourable Supreme Court order dated 2nd January 2017, I hereby tender my resignation for the post of Vice President of the association,” said
the ex-chief selector in a short letter addressed to the MCA on Tuesday. The decision of Vengsarkar to quit follows the resignation tendered by Sharad Pawar as president of the MCA much before the latest verdict of the apex court of the land. Pawar resigned on December 17, saying as per the SC order of July 18, 2016, he was ineligible to continue as he had crossed 70 years age.
Earlier, welcoming politician Sharad Pawar’s decision to step down from the post of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president, former Indian cricketer Surinder Khanna hopes other members of state associations will follow suit. “Better late than never. It is good a thing that he has stepped down from the post. And hope that many other members from state associations who have been sitting in the post for many years would follow the lead and step down immediately,” Khanna told ANI. The 60-year-old former Indian wicketkeeper further hoped that this would pave the way for Lodha reforms to “cleanse” the BCCI which is mired in corruption, reported ANI.
Pawar who was the former ICC and BCCI president, stepped down on Saturday adhering to the norm of age-cap of 70 years prescribed by the Supreme Court appointed Justice R C Lodha-led committee,
