Cristiano Ronaldo bags the Best Player of The Year title Cristiano Ronaldo won yet another award to display on his trophy cabinet as the Real Madrid and Portugal superstar was awarded the Best Player of The Year title at the Global Soccer Awards. video link,the Real Madrid winner said that this year was probably his best year in football so far, and feels that he silenced his remaining doubters. He also expressed that he want to do it all over again in 2017.
Ronaldo was declared player of the year and his team Real Madrid the club of the year at the Globe soccer awards in Dubai.
Mark Clattenburg was declared referee of the year, having officiated at the UEFA Champions League final, the UEFA Euro 2016 final and the English FA Cup final this year.
Asked about the video review system which was trialled at the recent Club World Cup tournament, Clattenburg agreed it is the future of refereeing.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino was directly addressed by Cameroonian player Samuel Eto'o who was picking up a lifetime achievement award.
Eto'o is the most decorated African player, formerly of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Inter Milan.
