Famous cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Denton Cooley died. Dr. Denton Cooley, a Texas cardiovascular surgeon, who had performed some of the earliest heart transplants and implanted the world’s first artificial heart, has died on November 18, 2016. He was 96. Cooley performed the first successful human heart and artificial heart transplants in the United States in the late 1960s. Cooley and his teams
also performed more than 118,000 open heart operations. Cooley has contributed a lot to the development of techniques to repair and replace diseased heart valves and was famous for surgery for congenital heart problems in infants and children.'
