The Haryana government has constituted a five-member committee to review the standard of higher and technical education in the state and suggest changes and reforms in acts of various state universities, if required. Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma today said the Review Committee headed by Brij Kishore Kuthyiala, which also includes Om Prakash Arora as Convener and Yogesh Singh,
Rajneesh Arora and Rakesh Gupta, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, as members, would study existing constitution and academic working of all state universities. The committee would submit a draft report within four-and-a-half months from the date of its constitution and final report within the next six months, he said. He also said suggestions from public on the draft report would be solicited. The committee would make recommendations for amendments in their acts to make universities more autonomous and accountable, he said. "The committee would suggest ways to bring about uniformity in the purpose of different universities even as they enjoy adequate freedom given the diversity of their academic works. It would identify the shortcomings and irrelevance, if any, in the present working of the universities," he said.
