SDMC rejects appointment of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s choice in CVO post

Another tug-of-war between AAP dispensation and BJP-controlled MCDs (Municipal Cooperation of Delhi) is on the cards with the South Delhi Municial Cooperation (SDMC) rejecting Delhi Government’s order to appoint B R Meena as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of the civic body. The AAP government had earlier refused to accept the order of Union Home Ministry appointing Mangesh
Kashyap (DANIPS 1995 batch) as the CVO of the SDMC.
Kashyap was the civic body’s choice for the post while Arvind Kejriwal government had proposed the appointment of Meena, a 1997-batch IPS officer.

“The name of Bhajani Ram Meena recommended by the Delhi Government was rejected by the Appointment & Promotion Committee as the approval of Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) was not obtained for his appointment,” said Ram Pal Yadav, Chairman of the committee.
