Raman Roy appointed NASSCOM chairman for 2017-18

NASSCOM also announced the appointment of Rishad Premji, Chief Strategy Officer and Member of the Board, Wipro as the Vice Chairman of NASSCOM for 2017-18. National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) has announced the appointment of Raman Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of Quatrro as its Chairman of NASSCOM for 2017-2018. Raman Roy has been a member of NASSCOM’s Executive Council and was the vice-chairman for 2016-17; he will take on the new role from April 6, 2017. He takes over the mantle from C P Gurnani, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tech Mahindra. NASSCOM also announced the appointment of Rishad Premji, Chief Strategy Officer & Member of the Board, Wipro as the Vice Chairman of NASSCOM for 2017-18.  “It is a great honour to be given this opportunity at a time when industry is at the next phase of its maturity and evolution,” said Raman Roy, Chairman, NASSCOM. “NASSCOM is playing a critical role in evangelizing(सुसमाचार प्रचार) the digital opportunity for the sector and I would like to support the industry in facilitating the skilling and reskilling effort of the industry through disruptive (विघटनकारी)models. Building India’s innovation edge is another key priority and we will plan to scale our start-ups and centre of excellence initiatives to the next level. I look forward to the continued involvement from our members to accelerate momentum on all initiatives.” “Raman is an industry veteran and has been the catalyst of its exponential growth in the last few decades. We are sure to gain huge insights from his wealth of experience on global and domestic markets,” said R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM. “A new age leader like Rishad, with his vast exposure(अनावरण), will bring fresh ideas to the table, helping the industry tap new domains and opportunities globally.”

Chairman Raman Roy along with Vice-Chairman Rishad and President R Chandrashekhar will lead NASSCOM to carry out its diverse array of priorities to enable NASSCOM in achieving the 2020 vision for the industry, which include showcasing the importance of global skilled labour mobility(श्रम गतिशीलता) , navigating new policy requirements and evangelizing skilling and re-skilling of talent, to help continuity of business. The NASSCOM leadership will also work towards further strengthening various sector councils and focus on enhanced member outreach and involvement.
