 PM inaugurates Chhattisgarh foundation day celebrations; Unveils Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya's statue.Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated Chhattisgarh's 16th foundation day celebrations in Naya Raipur. Chhattisgarh Governor B D Tandon and Chief Minister Raman Singh were also present at the site. PM Modi unveiled the statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya in Naya Raipur. He also dedicated to the people,
'Ekatma Path' and the Bus Rapid Transport System in the city. On reaching the Rajyotsava site, Prime Minister interacted with Panchayat representatives from different parts about the unique "Hamar Chhattisgarh' scheme related with enriching their knowledge through tours of selected places in the state. PM Modi also inaugurated 'Make in India' and Shilp-gram exhibitions at the site.

Modi also launched ambitious Saur Sujala Scheme aimed at providing solar powered water-pumps at heavily subsidized rates to farmers. The scheme will benefit thousands of farmers, particularly from those areas where traditional electricity is yet to reach. 

Under the Saur Sujala scheme, Chhattisgarh government will provide solar-powered pumps to around 51000 farmers in the State by March, 2019. It will be giving solar irrigation pump of 3 hp costing around 3 and half lakh rupees to farmers at the heavily subsidized prize of Rs 7000 to Rs 18000. 

Likewise, the pump of 5 hp worth 4 and half lakh rupees will be provided to farmers at the cost between 10000 and 20000 rupees. With this scheme, farmers will be receiving uninterrupted and clean power supply round the year.

Prime Minister will declare Mungeli and Dhamtari districts and 15 blocks of Chhattisgarh for being 'Open Defecation Free' as part of the Swachch Bharat Mission.
