Monitoring Committee to Review Control of Avian Influenza: Report . NATIONAL ZOOLOGICAL PARK, NEW DELHI                      - 01 Muniya (Captive Bird)

DEER PARK, HAUZ KHAS, NEW DELHI                                   - Nil

GWALIOR ZOO                                                                   - Nil

      Action taken:

The control and containment measures of avian influenza in the affected zoos are being continued, which include:

1.      Surveillance continues and the zoo is being screened regularly for any dead bird.

2.      Bio-security measures being strictly enforced.

3.      Disinfection by spraying anti-virus and other solutions is being undertaken regularly.

4.      Delhi Zoo remained closed for the safety of visitors and control of the disease.

5.      Activities of other birds in the zoos appear to be normal.

6.      Sample of one Muniya has also been sent to the National Institute for High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD), Bhopal.

7.      Sample of all 27 species of birds have been collected and sent for examination in the Gandhi Zoological Park, Gwalior.
