Lt Gen Anbu to replace Lt Gen Hooda as commander of Northern Command

Lieutenant General Devraj Anbu has been appointed as new Army Commander of Northern Command.He will replace Lt Gen D S Hooda, who is retiring from the services after 40-year career in the Army on November 30. Sources said that appointment committee of  union cabinet has approved the promotion of Lt. Gen. Devraj Anbu, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Tezpur based Gajaraj Corps (4 Corps), as
Army Commander and posting as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command.

Lt Gen, Anbu is expected to take charge as GOC-in-C Northern Command on December 1, a day after Lt Gen Hooda retires.

Sharing boundaries with Pakistan and China, three Corps - 14-headquartered at Leh, 15- headquartered in Srinagar and 16- headquartered at Nagrota - fall under Northern Command.
