Centre to give 45.5 tonnes food grains to the states every month

Needy people in every state of the country will now get subsidized ration because the food security law is now in force in every state. Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan shared this important information at a press conference on Thursday. Over 80 crore people will stand to benefit as per this new food security law coming into force. Touted as the world's biggest food security law which gives subsidised ration to the poor people,
has now been implemented across the country. An act which is benefitting over 80 crore people. With Kerala and Tamil Nadu joining in implementing this National Food Security Law, this Act will be in force and give benefits to the entire country from this month.

Union Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ram Vilas Paswan while expressing happiness over this achievement said that when the NDA came to power, then this food security law was in force in 11 states and now it is implemented across the entire country.

Paswan said that the Centre's share is far more vis-a-vis the states for incurring expenditure for implementation of this act. 

Needy people will get right to avail subsidized public ration. Poor people, through this Food Security Act will get wheat at 2 rupees per kilogram and rice at 3 rupees per kilo. 

For this, the Centre will supply 45.5 tonne foodgrains to the states every month and annually would give a subsidy of 1 lakh 40 thousand 700 crore rupees to the states. This law was enacted by Parliament in the year 2013. 

Under this act, 50 per cent of urban and 75 per cent of rural areas have been covered.
