The Delhi government on Friday announced free WiFi services for East Delhi which will be made available by December 2016. "The Delhi government is set to roll out 1000 WiFi hot spot zones in East Delhi. It will be the largest public wifi project in the world," Aam Aadmi Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashish Khetan said in a press conference, here. "East Delhi free WiFi project will cover 571 locations.
We aim to make Aam Aadmi Wifi best in the world & complete East Delhi phase by December 16," the AAP leader added.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal retweeted a few AAP members' tweets on microblogging website Twitter confirming the news.
"The government has also decided to have its own fibre optic network in the city. Public Works Department (PWD) and IT Depts have started the work on fibre to home project," Khetan said.
Congratulating Delhiites, Kejriwal posted: "Fibre optic network in whole of Delhi upto your home. This is a big decision by Delhi govt. Congrats Delhi."
